2026/07/03: The Luxembourg Times: Belgium’s wealthiest manage €91bn through Luxembourg companies, investigation finds

Nearly 9,800 Belgians control more than 11,200 companies in the Grand Duchy and 307 of them have no staff and no offices

Tax lawyer Denis-Emmanuel Philippe cites the Grand Duchy’s political and fiscal stability as one of its enduring strengths. Professor Axel Haelterman of KU Leuven highlights anxiety among wealthy families about the redistributive ambitions of the Belgian left. “They fear that if the Socialist Party returns to power and the Workers’ Party of Belgium continues to gain ground in the polls, Belgian holding companies will end up paying taxes on dividends and capital gains. Combined with an exit tax, they would have no way out.”
